Basketball Update: HRA vs. Unity

On Monday night (December 18), Highroad’s senior basketball teams played Unity Christian school. Despite a well played game and their best efforts, the senior girls team lost.

The senior boys team followed and played an exciting game but could not overcome some tough calls and missed shots.  In the end the Knights lost by 4 points (63 – 59).

The first half of the season has had its ups and downs, but both teams look forward to their next game when they return from the Christmas break on January 8th at Highroad . The senior girls play Maple Ridge at 6pm, and senior boys play Dashmesh at 8pm!

Grade 7 Basketball Update

December 19th, 2017

The Grade 7 Boys played two games today at Mount Slesse Middle School. The first game was played against G.W. Graham and our boys were relentless. We started off will a 6 to 0 lead and continued to score no matter who was on the court. The GWG team was much taller, but even that didn’t stop our boys from driving to the basket and getting our rebounds. We continued to play strong defense throughout the game and used our speed to score at the other end. The result was a solid win by our Highroad boys with a score of 54 to 35.

The second game was against Mount Slesse 1, who had won the first game a few weeks ago, also at Mount Slesse. This was a much closer game as the Mount Slesse team was well coached and had some talented players. When the game started we found ourselves behind by up to 10 points after the first 5 minute shift. Once we figured out our defensive match-ups we started playing much better, hitting more shots and battling back. By the end of the first half we were right in the game and continued to play well throughout the second half to tie the game by the end of regulation….so overtime!

In overtime, the boys stepped up again and scored a few clutch baskets to win the game 54 to 51.

It is also important to mention that Seonjun played his final game for highroad as he is headed back to Korea in the upcoming days. Thank you Seonjun for a great season! We will miss you!
