Provincials Day 3 – Final Update

Congratulations to our Sr. Boys Volleyball Team who won both of their games on Saturday to place 13th in the Province!!! It might not seem like it is a huge accomplishment, but considering that most of these boys have not played volleyball on a team before (except for one grade 7 tournament), this is a incredible.

Sr Girls Volleyball Finale

On this past Monday night the Sr. Girls Volleyball team played in a playoff game vs. SJB Bears, who recently dropped down from ‘AA’ to join in the ‘A’ girls EVAA playoffs. After a rough first set (25-11 loss), the Highroad girls got off to a quick start in the second and held on to win 25-19. The girls continued to play well into the third and fourth sets, but even with some great rallies, they could not pull out another win. In the end they lost the last two sets by the scores of 25-16 and then 25-21.

With this loss, the girls are out of the playoffs for this year, but look forward to next season.

Thank you for all the hard work and dedication you have shown throughout the year!

Heartbreak Loss

October 31st was a night that the Sr. Boys and Sr. Girls Volleyball teams would have their final league games at Unity Christian School. The Sr. Girls played well against a very strong team from Unity, and the young team from Highroad could not overcome the flames and ended up losing the match in three sets. Coach Kayla Grimard was encouraged by the way her team played despite the loss and is looking forward to their game on Monday Night against SJB at Highroad (6 pm Start) for an opening round playoff game. With a win against SJB, the girls can continue on to play with a game against Credo for a spot in the EVAA championships.

Next the boys took the court, in a game where a birth to provincials was on the line. The knights started off strong taking the first set 25-18. After loosing the next two sets, they continued to play well and battled back to take the fourth set and push the match into a fifth and deciding set. After a strong start to the set, the boys soon found themselves with a 14 to 11 lead and a chance to win the match, however it was not to be. The Flames fought back and took the final set 16 to 14. It was a hard loss for the knights, but not the end of the road. Next week they will play a challenge game against a team from the Sea to Sky Corridor for the final birth to provincials and a chance to extend their season. Game location, time and date are yet to be determined.
