Grade 7 Boys Basketball Recap

Tonight the Highroad Grade 7 Boys Basketball Team played against both Vedder Middle School teams. In the first game against VMS 1, the Highroad Boys battled back and forth throughout the entire game and had the lead with a few minutes to go. VMS 1 fought back and grabbed a 5 point lead with only a few seconds to go, when Jesse Kattenberg hit an incredible buzzer beater shot to finish the game (Video below). The shot did not win the game, but gave Highroad 40 points to VMS 1’s 42 points.

The second game against VMS 2 also started close, but after the first few shifts the Highroad boys started to pull away and ended up winning the game 59 to 31. It was a strong team effort with good defense and energy from the entire team.

Sr Girls Basketball Gets First Win of the Season!

Congratulations to the Sr. Girls Basketball team for their first win of the Season today against Pemberton!

The Highroad Knights Sr. Girls basketball team started the Agassiz tournament against the home team on Friday Night. The girls played well, but could not come out on the winning side, losing by a score of 53-33.

Saturday morning the team faced another difficult team in Heritage Christian. This game was a tough one, but the girls fought hard against the never ending press and strong fast break by Heritage Christian. In the end the girls could not gain enough offensive momentum to keep the game close and ended up losing 60-13.

After two hard losses the girls were determined to do better against in their final game of the tournament, and they did! Led in scoring by Nanami (16 pts.), Ellen (11 pts.) and Kaylee (10 pts.), the Highroad Girls beat Pemberton 45 to 42! Coach Shawn Krahn was thrilled with how all the girls played, but wanted to make a special mention to the years of hard work and dedication by Jaylynn, Jenna and Kaetlyn and the importance they all have to this team!

Congratulations Girls!
