Track and Field Records Board Updated

I know that the track and field season is still a few months away (early January) but I wanted to share that the records board has been updated to reflect the completion of the 2017 season.  In total, 15 records were broken and 16 new records were set.  It was a great season full of many accomplishments including the highest number of competitors that Highroad has sent to the Provincial Championship Meet (13).  I look forward to the 2018 season with great anticipation to see what the team can do to top our best season to date.  COMPETE!!!

It’s not the clearest picture but it will do.  If you look to the bottom right, you will see the addition of the hammer throw events.  A bit too small to see here, so you’ll just have to come in and see it for yourself.

On to the Fraser Valley Championships

The team performed wonderfully at this past week’s qualifying meet.  16 of our 22 athletes qualified for the next meet in 29 events.  Also, the team set 24 personal bests.  The team is surpassing expectations and it is great to see them having fun and competing hard against much bigger schools.  In just over a week, the team will travel to Coquitlam over three days to try and qualify for the Provincial Championships in Langley.  The end of the season is creeping up but there is so much more to accomplish; the team is up for the challenge.

A “banner” day for Highroad Track and Field

Another great day for the Highroad track and field team on Friday as they competed in the Christian Schools Meet.  The team won its first track and field banner in school history capturing the ‘A’ Senior Boys title.  Aaron, Ben, (Sam G. and Josiah G. ran on the senior boys 4×100 relay team), Nathaniel, Phil, and Vincent earned the well-deserved banner.

Additionally, Highroad also placed first in the ‘A’ categories of grade 8 boys, overall grade 8 team, and entire team.

This was the team’s last meet before the qualifying meets begin during the first week of May.  They are peaking at the right time and it will be exciting to watch them compete against some big schools in just over a week.

The senior boys (minus Ben) happy to display the team’s first track and field banner.

Annabel throwing the hammer (a new event for the team this year).

First Meet of the Season

The Lord was good to us and kept the rain away for our first meet of the season.  There were many good results at the mini meet and the team was able to get an early gauge of where they are compared to the other local schools.

Elijah G. won the Grade 8 Boys 1500m with a strong kick in the last 200m of the race.
